Story circles, storytelling workshops, and community gatherings are happening across the Conejo Valley as part of Story as a Path Back to Community. Whether you want to attend an event, host one in your community, or simply let us know you're interested — there is a place for you here.
Types of Events and What to Expect
Story Circle A small group — six to ten people, a trained facilitator, and guided prompts — that creates space to share lived experiences and listen deeply to one another. Not about reliving the past, but about honoring who we've become and what our shared experience has to teach us as we move forward. Available as a single session (90 min – 2 hrs) or a four-week series. Both faith-based and secular versions available.
Storytelling Workshop: How to Tell Your Story A single 2–3 hour workshop that teaches the practical skills of oral storytelling. Participants learn how to find the specific moment inside their experience, shape it into something they can say out loud, and share it with confidence. A good starting point for anyone who feels like their story is too complicated or too small to tell. Available for community members, congregations, and nonprofit groups.
Community Storytelling Event Larger gatherings where stories gathered through story circles and workshops are shared with the wider community — through live telling, audio, and creative expression. These events are open to the public and designed to bring the community together around the stories that have shaped us. Dates will be announced as the project progresses.
