Tom Stephen: Tom has served as pastor of Monte Vista Presbyterian Church since 2004. He grew up in Southern California and received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from University of Redlands. Tom graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1990, where he met his wife Ginny. Together they published their first book, Fearless: 40 Reflections on Fear, in 2006. They have also written curriculum for Focus on the Family, Soul Survivor, Gospel Light Vacation Bible School and have edited books for a variety of writers. Tom loves to surf, read, hang out and enjoy time with family. Tom and Ginny have four children, Faith, Hope, Samuel and Daniel.
Desta Goehner: Desta is a name that comes from Ethiopia, it means “deep joy.” Desta is a Spiritual Director that serves at California Lutheran University as the Director of Congregational Relations. She builds connections between the university, congregations (including interfaith and multi-faith places of worship) and their leaders. Desta is invested in community, listening, spiritual transformation, anti-racism, interfaith work, the enneagram and, since November 2018, healing from trauma.
